Clogged Drain

During the defrost cycle in the refrigerator, water goes through the drain into the drip pan where it evaporates. Sometimes the water in the drain tube will freeze up, blocking the drain. Water will then start pulling on the bottom of the freezer and eventually will start leaking outside the unit. You can use hot water to clear the drain.

Water Inlet Valve

If the refrigerator is leaking water the water valve may be cracked or have a loose fitting. Water inlet valve supplies water dispenser and the ice maker with water. When the valve or one of the plastic hoses attached to it is cracked, you will see the water outside the fridge on the floor. Sometimes, the valve can cause internal leak through the ice maker or water dispenser, if it's not closing completely.

Water Filter

Cracked water filter can cause major flood in your home. Always buy genuine water filter replacement. Many people buy aftermarket filter replacement to save some money. But, aftermarket water filters crack easily causing the major water damage.
